NEVER NEEDS STRIPPING, SANDING, OR MEDIA BLASTING!

LOG*1 COAT: LOG*1 COAT is a premium, deep-penetrating, semi-transparent oil-based natural wood stain sealer uniquely formulated for logs and timber-sided wood. Crafted to precise specifications using the finest architectural coatings available today, it protects your wood from the inside outโ€”completely eliminating the problematic, film-forming outer skins that crack and peel.

LOG*1 COAT can be applied to all types of logs and timber-sided wood, which includes pine, cedar, cypress, hemlock, oak, spruce, fir, and redwood

PREMIUM ARCHITECTURAL FINISH

  • Enhanced Durability in Just One Coat: Achieve unmatched resistance to weathering and UV damage with a single application. Expect it to last 5โ€“6 years in direct sunlight and 7โ€“8 years in the shade, easily outlasting the competition.
  • LOG*1 COAT is our advanced oil-based, semi-transparent finish engineered to outperform high-solvent coatings that evaporate away. By combining high-density, nano-enhanced pigments with modified alkyd resins in a mineral oil base, it achieves an industry-leading 90% solids content and low VOCs (<100 g/L) for protection built to outlast the competition.
  • LOG*1 COAT is super easy to work with, no need to keep “wet to wet,” and will deliver a single, even application with NO lap marks. Even if overapplied, the extended open time allows for correction and back-rolling before it dries. Our product delivers better coverage, effectively concealing blemishes and remnants of previous oil-based stains of a similar wood tone.
  • Log Protection: Ensuring unparalleled long-term protection for your logs. Thanks to its unique self-healing effect, it will defend against UV damage, water, and mold degradation while stabilizing and strengthening the wood’s lignin to prevent splitting, warping, and cupping, protecting the log from the inside-out, not a problematic film/skin creating outside-in.”
  • No Shine, Just Authenticity: LOG*1 COAT offers a truly natural, authentic, REAL log look by deeply penetrating the log to reveal, enrich, and enhance the beauty and intricacies of the unique grain in the wood. It showcases the deep, natural pattern of your log, highlighting its inherent charm. Unlike those artificial coatings that create a cheap, shiny plastic surface on the wood, you’ll experience a breathtakingly rich, uniformly natural appearance that celebrates the authentic texture and superior quality of the logs in your home.
  • Penetrating Non-Film Forming:  Our formulation doesnโ€™t polymerize on top of the log, creating a hardened film or skin on the wood surface that will eventually need stripping, sanding, or media blasting.
  • Eco-Friendly, Ultra-Low VOCs: By removing high-content, hazardous solvents and using mineral oil as our carrier, LOG*1 COAT boasts an extremely low VOC profile (<100).
  • Fungus Inhibitors: Will protect against algae and mold build-up.
  • Extreme temperature applicable: You can apply it in direct sun and from the upper 30s to the hottest extremes without issue. The caveat is that the wood must be dry before application ( less than 12- 15 % on a moisture reader). Between 45 and 95+ degrees Fahrenheit is your best range for application.
  • Superior Coverage at 150- 175 sqft per gallon: Effectively conceals blemishes and remnants of previous oil-based stains of a similar wood tone.

*Our formulation contains zero plant-derived or bio-based oilsโ€”such as linseed or tungโ€”that feed black mold. It also eliminates the propylene glycol and acrylics behind the patchy, flaking, and peeling finishes common in competing sealers.

The Science of Log Home Protection and Beautification

When it comes to protecting and beautifying your log home, choosing the right finish is crucial!  Itโ€™s about understanding the science of wood protection and choosing a finish that can withstand the elements while preserving the natural beauty of your logs. To understand why LOG*1 COAT is a superior choice, letโ€™s first examine the limitations of traditional log stains.

The Problem with Organic Drying Oils

Traditional log stains often use straight-up and/or alkyd resins derived from organic, saturated drying oils like linseed oil and tung oil, in various blends. Popular brands like Sashcoโ€™s Transformation Log Stain Sealer, PPG Sikkens Cetol SRD, WeatherSeal by Continental, Cabot Gold and Austrian Timber Oil, Benjamin Moore Woodluxe, and Penofin all rely on these types of oils. While they offer some protection, they come with drawbacks:

  • Multiple Coats & Messy Application: Organic oils such as linseed and tung usually require two coats to achieve adequate coverage and tend to drip and run, often leaving a blotchy, slow-drying, tacky finish.
  • Fuel for Mold: Organic oils are notorious for fueling mold and fungus growth.
  • โ€œWet to Wetโ€ Application Required: Organic oils often require a โ€œwet on wetโ€ application to prevent lap marks.
  • Yellowing & UV Damage: Many organic oils tend to yellow with age, altering the woodโ€™s natural color. They form from oxidation to hardened films that are also vulnerable to degradation from UV exposure, which can lead to cracking, peeling, flaking, and/or patchy leftovers over time. To restore the finish, they typically need to be chemically stripped, sanded, and/or media blasted for reapplication.
  • Higher Solvent Content = Higher VOCs: Organic oil-based stains require higher percentages of solvents (some of which are hazardous to your health, such as benzene derivatives) to achieve adequate penetration into the wood. They can also emit strong odors, harm the environment, and impact indoor air quality.

The LOG*1 COAT Advantage

The Chemistry Breakthrough: Say goodbye to stripping, sanding, and media blasting forever. While traditional stains use volatile solvents to deliver mold-breeding organic oils (like linseed and tung), LOG*1 COAT takes a completely different approach. Our system uses modified alkyd resins suspended in non-drying mineral oils, delivering a non-film-forming finish that protects your wood from the inside out without the endless cycle of maintenance.

Because this formulation protects from the inside out without polymerizing and creating a hardened top film, it completely eliminates the peeling, cracking, and maintenance havoc down the line common with other products. Instead, it creates a powerful dual-action defense at the wood’s cellular level:

  • Our Modified Alkyd Resins: Permanently lock in our high-content nano-pigmentation for vivid, fade-resistant color while binding to and stabilizing the woodโ€™s cellular lignin structure, preventing splitting, warping, and cupping.
  • The Non-Drying Mineral Oil Carrier: Replaces harsh, evaporating solvents to deeply flood, condition, and bulk up the internal wood fibersโ€”keeping the log flexible from the inside out while rendering it completely inhospitable to black mold and fungal growth.

Advanced Protection for Thermally Modified Wood & Premium Hardwoods

The THERMAL*1 COAT SYSTEM provides comprehensive, long-term protection designed specifically for the unique needs of Thermally Modified Wood (TMW) siding and premium hardwood decking like Ipe. By combining robust environmental defense with active wood stabilization, it ensures your project stays beautiful and structurally sound for years to come.

Understanding the Maintenance Cycle

Because THERMAL*1 COAT acts as a protective barrier, its aesthetic longevity depends entirely on application orientation and your siteโ€™s specific microclimate:

  • Shaded Verticals (Siding): In heavily shaded areas or protected architectural recesses, the rich wood-tone finish can last up to 6+ years before requiring attention.
  • High-UV Verticals (Siding): Walls that receive direct, intense afternoon sun experience the heaviest environmental exposure. These areas will naturally move through their care cycle faster, requiring a straightforward maintenance refresh more frequently to maintain 100% protection.
  • Horizontal Surfaces & Decking (Flats): Horizontal applications endure the combined effects of direct overhead UV, pooling rainwater, and foot traffic. To maintain that premium, rich finish and prevent weathering, plan for a quick top-coat refresh every 1 to 2 years.

Ideal for a Wide Range of Applications

THERMAL*1 COAT is perfectly suited for all types of Thermally Modified Wood siding, cladding, hardwood, and decking made from various species, including Brazilian IPE, Cumaru, Tigerwood, Merbau, Australian, and Mahogany. It delivers exceptional protection and beauty across a broad spectrum of exterior hardwood timber projects.
